About the A+ Content Size Checker

A+ Content adds images and comparison charts to your book's Amazon page. Each module has its own image size, and an image with the wrong shape is cropped or padded in the editor, which can cut off text baked into your graphic.

Choose a module, select an image from your device, and this checker reads its pixel dimensions, aspect ratio, file type, file size and any embedded DPI. It then checks the image against the module's minimum size, the accepted types (JPEG, PNG, BMP) and the 2 MB limit, with a clear pass, check or fail for each.

Everything happens in your browser. The image is never uploaded, so you can check unreleased covers and artwork privately. Passing these checks does not guarantee Amazon will approve your A+ Content, which is also reviewed for policy and legibility, but it removes the most common technical rejections.

How It Works

The image is read locally and decoded by your browser to get its true pixel size. If the browser cannot display the format, the size is read from the file header instead.

Dimensions pass when the image is at least the module's minimum width and height and its aspect ratio is within 2% of the module's shape. Larger images with the right shape pass; Amazon scales them down.

File type is detected from the file's contents, not its name, so a renamed file is still identified correctly.

Example

An image for the Standard Image Header with Text module (970 × 600px)

  1. A 1940 × 1200px JPEG of 900 KB: twice the minimum in both directions, same 97:60 shape, accepted type, under 2 MB. Result: pass.
  2. A 1200 × 1200px PNG: big enough, but square instead of 97:60. Result: check, because it would be cropped.
  3. An 800 × 495px PNG: smaller than the minimum. Result: fail.

Export the module image at its minimum size or a larger image with exactly the same shape.

Important Notes

  • Module sizes are commonly published minimums and are stored as configurable values. Confirm the current sizes in the A+ Content Manager.
  • DPI metadata does not matter for A+ images; only the pixel dimensions are used on screen.
  • Text inside images should be large enough to read on a phone, which this tool cannot check.
  • Nothing is uploaded. The preview is created from a temporary local link that is released when you clear the image.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my image be larger than the module size?

Yes, as long as the shape matches. Amazon scales it down. A larger image can look sharper on high-resolution screens, but keep it under the file size limit.

Why is my image marked Check rather than Fail?

It is big enough, but its aspect ratio differs from the module's. The editor will crop or pad it, which can cut off edges or text.

Which file types does A+ accept?

JPEG, PNG, BMP. JPEG is usually the best choice for photos because it keeps file sizes small.

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and checked entirely inside your browser, and nothing leaves your device.

Does passing guarantee approval?

No. Amazon also reviews A+ Content for policy, claims, text legibility and image quality. This tool only checks the technical requirements.
