About the Book Title Generator

A good title tells the right reader, in a few words, that this book is for them. Fiction titles lean on mood and genre signals (a crown, a manor, a whisper), while non-fiction titles usually name the topic and hint at the result. This generator uses separate pattern sets for each, built from vocabulary typical of your chosen genre and tone.

Enter a topic, pick a genre and tone, and add an audience or a few keywords if you have them. You get about twelve ideas at a time, each with a character count. Press Generate more for a fresh set, and Save any idea to your shortlist, which stays in this browser so you can come back and compare later.

Treat the results as raw material. The strongest titles often come from combining two ideas, swapping one word, or pairing a short title with a clear subtitle. When you have a favorite, build the subtitle with the Subtitle Generator and check that your metadata stays honest and searchable with the keyword guide.

How It Works

Your inputs are combined into a seed, so the same inputs always produce the same list. Each press of Generate more moves to the next seed and a new set of ideas.

Non-fiction patterns place your topic inside proven shapes such as "[Topic] for [Audience]", "The [Topic] Playbook" or "[Number] Steps to [Adjective] [Topic]". Fiction patterns draw on genre nouns and adjectives plus words that match your tone.

Keywords are occasionally added as a short tagline after a colon. If the site owner has enabled AI suggestions, the tool asks for those first and falls back to the built-in generator if they are unavailable; the results always show which source was used.

Example

Self-Help, topic "morning routines", audience "busy parents", Warm tone, keywords "productivity, habits"

  1. The first set includes "The Morning Routines Blueprint" (30 characters), "Morning Routines for Busy Parents" and "The Gift of Morning Routines".
  2. It also offers numbered ideas such as "7 Rules to Better Morning Routines".
  3. Generate more (set 2) adds "Rethinking Morning Routines" and "Quiet Morning Routines".

Save "Morning Routines for Busy Parents" and "Rethinking Morning Routines" to your shortlist, then test each with a subtitle.

Important Notes

  • Ideas are generated from word patterns, not market data. They are not checked against existing books, so search Amazon before you commit.
  • Some combinations will read awkwardly or repeat a word. Skip those and press Generate more.
  • The shortlist is stored only in this browser. Clearing site data or switching devices removes it, so copy it somewhere safe.
  • Keep your title identical on the cover, title page and KDP setup page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my topic appear in almost every non-fiction title?

Non-fiction readers search for what they want to learn, so clear topic words help discovery. If you prefer a more creative title, choose one without the topic and put the topic in the subtitle instead.

Can I add keywords to my title to rank better?

Only words that are genuinely part of your title. KDP's metadata guidelines do not allow stuffing keywords into the title field, and readers find keyword-heavy titles hard to trust. Use your keyword fields for extra search terms.

Will I get the same ideas if I enter the same details again?

Yes. The built-in generator is deterministic, so identical inputs give the same first set. Change the tone, audience or keywords, or press Generate more, to see different ideas.

How long should a book title be?

Most strong titles are one to six words. Short titles are easier to read on a thumbnail-sized cover. The character count beside each idea helps you compare.

Where is my shortlist saved?

In your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded. Use Copy all to keep a copy elsewhere.

Can two books have the same title?

Many published books share titles, but a distinctive title is easier to find and remember. Always search Amazon for your favorite ideas, and take extra care with series names and brand-like titles.
